I’ll cut right to the chase – here’s how to build an affiliate marketing blog in 7 easy steps:
1) Create an account at Blogger.com. These are two blogging sites that Google loves and are free to create.
2) Decide what you want to blog about (and promote). Start with something you like- motorcycles, personal finance books, purses, whatever.
3) Find a great product to promote. If you’re blogging about purses, try typing something like “purse+affiliate” in Google, or check out a huge affiliate program like Amazon or Commission Junction.
4) Research what kind of keywords for your product have high demand and low supply. Do this by going to Google Adwords Keyword Tool (just Google that name) and typing in some words related to your product. For example if you’re selling Coach purses, try typing in “coach purses online” or something like that. When Google spits out results, try typing those with less than 10,000 visits/month into Google with quotes. So it might look like “buy Coach purses online.” If the number of results is less than 5,000; it’s a great keyword!
5) Write a blogpost and put that keyword in the title of the post as well as at a few times throughout the post. Don’t overdo it though, make it sound natural.
6) Put your affiliate link for the product several places in your post.
7) Drive traffic to your blog by:
- Writing articles in Ezinarticles and Goarticles linking back to your post.
- Submitting your post URL to social bookmarking sites like those shown on SocialMarker.com.
- Using Twitter, Facebook or MySpace to write a message about it.
- Linking to it in related forums (like a purse forum? I dunno I’m a guy).
